New Student Orientation

Prepare for your arrival in Kearney by completing the Admitted Student Checklist and registering for New International Student Orientation (NISO), an in-person orientation to help you transition to UNK. NISO is mandatory for every new international student.

REGISTER FOR FALL 2024 NISO (August)

UNK is pleased to welcome new international students each semester because they enrich the UNK campus and the Kearney community. We are very excited to have you as students of our university.

NISO is designed to acquaint you with the campus, the community, and U.S. Immigration requirements. It will also help you learn what it takes to be a successful student at UNK. During this time, you will be given the opportunity to:

• learn about the U.S. academic system
• open a bank account (F-1 visa students)
• meet professors and other important people who work with students
• take care of your vaccination requirements
• learn about student activities and opportunities to get involved on campus
• and most importantly, make new friends!

Move-In Information

Students arriving for the fall 2024 semester must arrive to campus on August 17, 18, or 19 to be ready for NISO which beings on August 21. If you are a member of a UNK athletic team, check with your coach if you should arrive earlier.

• Rent a Loft to make more space in your room.
• Technology in your room: WiFi, Wireless Printing.
• How to submit your photo and pick up your UNK ID Card   
• Get your Parking Permit through your MyBLUE account.
• UNK recommends purchasing Personal Property or Renters Insurance.
