Health Requirements for Incoming Students

All incoming students must submit proof of immunization before registering for classes.

Required Immunizations

  • Two doses of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Submit immunization records through MyBlue.
    • Non-English documents must include certified English translations.
    • If unable to provide records, vaccinations must be completed upon arrival, at the student's expense.

Tuberculosis (TB) Test

  • A TB blood test is required after arrival in Kearney.
  • Do not complete this test in your home country.
  • Testing is conducted during new student orientation.
  • The cost is $75 for students without the university insurance plan.

Recommended Immunization

  • Meningitis Vaccine – Strongly recommended for students living on campus due to the risk of severe illness.

Medical Insurance Requirement

  • All international students must have medical insurance while attending UNK.
  • Coverage is available through Student Health Services.

Medical Insurence for International Students

All F-1 and J-1 international students enrolled at UNK must have health insurance through the UNK Student Health Insurance Plan. Enrollment is automatic each semester upon course registration, and the cost is added to the tuition bill.

Insurance Waiver Eligibility

  1. Students may apply for a waiver only if they meet one of the following conditions:
  2. Sponsored by their government with a financial guarantee on file with UNK.
  3. A member of NCN.
  4. Covered by a U.S. employer-provided insurance plan through a parent, spouse, or domestic partner.
  5. J-1 students may apply for a waiver by purchasing an approved International Student Insurance (ISI) "Select" or "Elite" plan (More Info).
