Beds

All residence hall beds have extra-long twin mattresses (86" W x 33"H x 18"D). Twin XL sheet sets are available in most stores. Standard beds can be raised, lofted, or bunked.

Standard bed adjustments

In Armstrong and Martin Halls, the beds are self lofting beds, meaning the legs are tall enough to loft the bed without extra pieces.  In these buildings, the beds are not tall enough to be bunked. 

 

Loft Rental

If residents wish to loft their bed, they must rent a loft from UNK Residence Life. Students living in Armstrong, Antelope, Martin and Nester North/South do not need to order lofts as the beds are either self lofting beds or the loft parts are available in the suites.  Homemade or purchased third-party lofts are not permitted on campus.

Loft Rental set-up includes:

  • Two additional bed ends

  • Stabilizer bar

  • Guard rail

  • Two Clamps

  •  Four bed pins

Please note: Residents are not allowed to bring their own mattress to campus. All university furniture, including mattresses, must remain in the room/suite/apartment at all times.
