Important information:
Spring Cleaning Day: We encourage you to identify a day with your roommate/suitemate to take out all trash and minimize the things you will likely be donating at the end of the year. It will help tremendously in making your move out experience smoother. Goodwill will have a donation trailer on campus in Lot 28 (South of CTE) May 4th through May 11th. We will NOT have donation boxes in the residence halls this year- please do not leave things in the lobby.
Quiet Hours: 24-hour quiet hours begin Sunday, May 3rd at 1:00AM. Violations of this will result in offenders having one hour to vacate their room after their last final.
Check Out: You must check out of your room by Friday, May 8th by 12:00PM.
Mail/Packages: Mail delivery on campus will stop on Tuesday, May 5th.
Bikes: Be sure to take your bicycle home. Bikes left for the summer will be impounded and sold at auction during the summer.
Lofts:
Summer/365 Housing: If you are living on-campus for summer, you will move to your summer assignment on the date assigned to you by the office of residence life. You should have a Save the Date that has been emailed to you. On your assigned day you will pick up your keys at the Antelope front desk. Your specific move time/date will depend on your current housing location.
Checking out of your room:
Those of you leaving the residence halls, please schedule a check-out time by Saturday May 2nd at 5:00PM with your RA. Your RA will have a signup sheet at the mandatory floor meeting & posted at their door until the May 2nd deadline. We will begin processing check-outs on Monday, May 4th. If you need to alter your time, please contact your RA, but adherence to the schedule is very helpful to make sure things go smoothly. After you have moved everything out of your room, emptied the micro-fridge, and cleaned your room/ bathroom per guidelines provided, please go to the RAs room at the time you signed up for & remember that RAs may have multiple checkouts in a row, so please be patient. At your checkout appointment, RAs will inspect your room and collect your keys in an envelope. Below you will find the Room Cleaning and Check Out Guidelines. If you need to check out outside of an RA’s availability, please communicate with your RA or RHC.
If you are charged for damages or an improper checkout fee, you will see a charge on your student account posted by Friday, May 15th. If you are concerned about a possible damage charge, please contact your Resident Assistant, Assistant Hall Director, or Residence Hall Coordinator. Hall staff, under the guidance of UNK Facilities, make the final decision on room damage charges.
After your check out appointment, your RA will complete your Room Condition Report, notify you of any concerns, and log your returned key envelope to ensure proper keys are returned. Once you check out, you may not reenter your room. Failure to complete these checks out steps will result in an improper check out charge of $50. Please consult our Residence Life Move Out website for more information.
Again, if you have any questions, please be sure to ask a staff member. You will receive check out tips at your mandatory floor meeting coming soon. Stay tuned for more details from your RA. Good luck with finals and have a wonderful summer!
