How to apply for a Housing Exemption Application to live off campus.
The 365 contract acts as a one year lease from May 16, 2025 – May 8, 2026. This is for the Summer 2025, Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.
Cancellation fees apply as they would with the academic year contract.
The cancellation deadline with no penalty is May 31, 2025. Cancellation fees past that deadline are $500 and 50% of fall semester room and board charges if you remain enrolled at UNK. If students decides to drop all fall classes and move off campus over the summer, there is no refund for the summer term. We recommend reading the cancellation policies prior to signing the contract.
This contract is for returning housing students who would like to live in Antelope Hall or is a member of a Fraternity or a Sorority who would like to live on campus for one full year in Martin or Armstrong (proposed) Hall.
Yes, you can live in single room in a 4-person suite in Antelope Hall with the 365 contract. The 365 contract is not for students seeking a single room in CTE, CTW, Men’s, Mantor, or Randall Halls. We recommend filling out an academic year contract if you’d like to return to CTE, CTW, Mens, Mantor or Randall. Summer Housing is not offered in those areas.
No, the Summer meal plan is not required.
For current UNK housing residents, there is no course requirement over the summer or J terms, but students do need to be registered for the Fall & Spring semester. New UNK students are not eligible for the 365-housing contract.
May 31st, 2025.
This difference is for the 365-contract you will only pay $50.00 for the entire summer, and you will get to stay in the same room for all 3 semesters (Summer 2025, Fall 2025 and Spring 2026).
The academic year housing contract for 25-26 is only for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.
There is currently no wait list to apply or be admitted into UNK housing. However, at any given time there MAY be a wait to get into a particular hall or room.
Room Selection
There are four residence halls that we recommend for our first-year students. Mantor and Randall Hall is our community-style residence halls with community style bathrooms on each floor. Centennial Towers East and West are our semi-suite residence halls that have a private bathroom connected to two rooms. This means that 4 students would share one bathroom. All of these residence halls provide a great social atmosphere and give students many opportunities to get involved and actively participate in their community.
If you live in the Community Style halls of Mantor, Randall or Men’s in a double room there will be two sets of furniture and there will be two people who share that room. The assigned furniture must remain in the room. Check out more information on housing options. The community style bathroom on each floor is cleaned by UNK staff and designated by gender, with private stalls. Each room is provided with a MicroFridge that is shared with the roommate. Loft rentals are available.
A semi suite style room is two rooms with a shared bathroom connected by doorways from each room. Residents are responsible for bathroom cleanliness and bathroom supplies. Each room is provided with a MicroFridge that is shared with the roommate. Loft rentals are available. If you live in the Semi-Suite Style Housing of CTE (Centennial Towers East) or CTW (Centennial Towers West) in a double room assignment, there will be two sets of furniture and there will be two people who share that room. The assigned furniture must remain in the room. Check out more information on housing options.
Yes, all new students will have the opportunity to select their room for the 2025-2026 academic year. Room Selection will begin June 27th for new students.
Students will receive an email with the date and time when they can begin Room Selection.
For students who are in a roommate group, only one student from the group needs to log in to choose a room for the group, so check with your group and see who has the earliest time.
To reserve a room/suite, students must first wait for their designated time. The Room Selection page will not open until the designated time. Next the student will log into their 2025-2026 Residence Hall Contract and go to the Room Selection page. Next students can choose the building and the room they would like to live in. Finally, students will choose a room for themselves and a room for each member of their group.
Please email housing@unk.edu to get on a wait list for your preferred residence hall. The Office of Residence Life will contact you by email.
Students who do not choose a room, will be assigned to a room and a roommate by the Office of Residence Life using the best profile match. Students may also ask Residence Life to complete a room assignment for them right away during the room selection process. If you would prefer this method, please send an email to housing@unk.edu.
Roommate Selection
Roommate Selection begins May 26th, 2025. To begin the search, log into MyBLUE > Tools > Campus Housing > Residence Hall Contract > 2025-26 Academic Year Residence Hall Contract > Save and Continue through the application until you get to Roommate Search.
Search for a roommate in 3 ways:
Search Roommate by Name or Key Word.
If you know who you want to room with, search by their name.
Use key words to search to find a roommate with similar interests. This will search the roommate description paragraph to help you find a good match.
Search Roommate by Profile – Use roommate matching questions to find a good match.
View Suggested Roommates – Best matches based on your personality profile questions, rise to the top.
New Student Roommate Selection will begin May, 26th 2025. This will end June 25th, 2025.
If you plan to live in Mantor, Randall or Men's Hall you need one roommate.
If you plan to live in Centennial Towers East or West, you need one roommate and 2 suitemates (make a group of 4).
The students you will find in your roommate search are in the same community that you are in.
If you have accepted one of the scholarships below, then you will be required to live in that community with another scholarship recipient. These communities are: KHOP, Thompson Scholars (those receiving the Susan Thompson Buffet), Kearney Bound Scholars, and Honors (student wanting to live in Men’s Hall).
If you would like to live in one of the other communities, talk to your roommate to see if they would like to live in the community with you. You should both agree to live in the same community together. Communicate any community changes to the coordinator of the community and to Residence Life. You can email Residence Life at housing@unk.edu.
During roommate searching you will be able to search for your preferred roommate. This takes place from May 26, 2025. Keep in mind that there are certain scholarships that require students to live in a community with another scholarship recipient. To search for your preferred roommate, Log into MyBLUE > Tools > Campus Housing > Residence Hall Contract > 2025-26 Academic Year Residence Hall Contract > Save and Continue through the application until you get to Roommate Search. Select Search Roommate by Name or Key Word. On this page you will be able to search for your roommate by name. If you cannot find your preferred roommate this might be because you are in different communities. Please reach out to housing@unk.edu for assistance.
When you find a good match, you can a “Send Message” internally within the contract. There will be a button to the right of the student’s profile that says, “Send Message.” This will send the potential roommates an email. Then choose to share your Snapchat, Instagram, email, or phone number to continue the conversation!
These messages go to the personal email account that the students used when applying to UNK. These emails do not go to their UNK Loper email account. Any changes to your email are made in MyBLUE on the profile tab in the left menu.
Please send an email to housing@unk.edu and let us know who you are searching for and that they are not coming up in your roommate search. Please provide the name of your preferred roommate. Each person must have a completed contract to be able to find each other.
After reaching out and agreeing to be roommates, log back into the 2025-26 Academic Year Residence Hall Contract and go to Roommate Search. Next, you will need to create a roommate group. To do this use the “Create Group” button and submit your group name and password. Now share this information with your roommates. Your roommates can then log into their contract and join the group you have created by selecting “Request to Join Group.” Next, log into your housing contract and accept the roommates who requested to join your group. Finally, all roommates should log into the application and confirm that you are both in the roommate group together.
Students who do not find a roommate, will be able to choose a room during room selection, even if they do not have a selected roommate.. Students who do not choose a room, will be assigned to a room and a roommate by the Office of Residence Life using the best profile match. This will begin on July 8th.
Roommates share the same bedroom area in the room and have the same room number.
Centennial Towers East or West are the only buildings that have suitemates. Two rooms are designed as a suite with a shared bathroom between them. Doors on either side of the shared bathroom separate the two separate bedroom/living areas. View unk.edu/housing > Housing Options > CTE/CTW - scroll down for room layout.
During the first few weeks we encourage our students to sit down with their roommate and suitemates and complete the roommate agreement form. We also train our staff in mediation, so if it is not working out with your roommate talk with your RA and set up a mediation. If things do not improve, then contact your Residence Hall Coordinator about a room change.
To ensure fairness & consistency, when vacancies are created and students are left without a roommate, a consolidation policy has been adopted. Students left without a roommate can have another student move in with them, move into another student’s room, or can pay to maintain the room as a single. There is an additional cost per semester to maintain your room as a single.
