Helpful Tips for Move In:

2020 Move In

To limit congestion and promote social distancing for Covid-19 virus concerns, student residents will select a check-in appointment for fall move-in.  An expanded time frame is offered for students to select a time and date that works for them.  All new students may select a check-in time starting Sunday, August 16th through Friday, August 21st.  New students must be ready for Blue Gold Welcome - orientation activities by Friday, August 21st at 1:00 pm.  Returning (upper-class) students may select a time Friday, August 21st-Sunday, August 23rd, with earlier times offered once new students have selected a time. Look for an email invite when the appointments are open for reserving your time.

The meal plan for all on-campus residents begins on Friday, August 21st with breakfast, therefore, if a student is checking in earlier they will need to plan on providing their own meals.  New students may choose to stay after moving in on an earlier date, or can return home then be ready for scheduled activities August 21st at 1:00 pm. Most Blue Gold Welcome activities will offer a virtual option, with many events scheduled in small groups.

Residents part of a hosted early arrival group scheduled before August 15th will receive a confirmation email of the block of time for their residence hall check-in.  Early arrival groups scheduled August 16th or after will log in to select a check-in time that is specific to their group, including:  Sorority Recruitment, Cross Country, Volleyball, Women’s Golf, Speech/Forensics, KHOP, Health Science Explorers, and Thompson Scholar Learning Community. An email will be sent with more details.  Early arrival hosts provide at least one meal per day for the students in their group until the meal plan begins.

Guidelines for Move In:

  • Students may have up to two guest/family members assist them with move-in.  This guest limitation is important to limit congestion and social interaction.
  • Unloading parking zones are designated for each hall then residents and guests relocate to other parking areas.  A Move-In Welcome brochure will be mailed in early August that includes a parking map and more helpful info.
  • To promote safety for all, masks are expected to be worn when in the residence hall lobbies, elevators, hallways, and corridors.  Once in your residence hall room, it is not required.
  • Moving carts will be issued at the front desk in exchange for a driver’s license or cell phone while the cart is in use.  Carts are offered on a first-come first-serve basis for 20 minutes.  Once returned to the desk, carts will be sanitized and ready for the next student.
  • Please maintain 6 feet distance when interacting with other students, groups, and UNK staff.
  • One family group at a time per elevator.  Please use the stairs when going down when possible.

Residence Hall Front Desks will be open for scheduled check-ins at the following locations:

  • Antelope, Nester North, Nester South and Men's Hall Residents: Antelope Front Desk.
  • CTE and CTW residents: CTW Front Desk
  • Mantor, Randall: Mantor Randall Front Desk
  • URS and URN Residents: Contact the URS and URN RA on duty.  The RA on duty number will be posted on the residence hall door.
  • Parking is not enforced during check-in until the first day of classes (exceptions e.g.: fire lanes and handicap parking stalls). Parking permits required beginning the first day of classes.
