The teenage and pubertal years are an important time for young athletes to begin transitioning to a more structured training environment to enhance athletic development while adjusting to a rapidly changing body.
This program is designed specifically for FEMALE elementary and middle school aged athletes looking to develop healthy lifestyle habits and to gain a competitive edge. This program is led by female UNK athletes who have a strong background in and conditioning at different performance levels. All athletes will receive initial training and performance evaluations to identify strengths and weaknesses. This program is available for athletes to attend on Monday & Wednesday OR if there is interest in attending 4 days per week, please contact our director.
Additionally, ACL prevention will be of high focus within this program. Compared to males, female athletes, especially soccer and basketball, have a 3.5-fold increased risk of ACL injury. About 75% of ACL injuries are from quick stops, cutting and lateral movements, and landing.
If we want to reduce the risk of ACL injury then we need to improve strength, power, mobility, conditioning, balance, agility, jumping and landing, and cutting and changing direction. Unfortunately, less than 20% of coaches have implemented ACL Injury Prevention Programs.
We are currently not offering any Youth Female Athletic Development Sessions, please see the dates below for upcoming sessions.
