A Great Location

For a small friendly town, Kearney is big on exciting things to do.
With more than 100 different student clubs to explore, you may not choose to step outside our campus walls very often. But when you do, you’ll discover a whole new world of opportunities waiting for you.

Want to be entertained? Catch a movie at one of Kearney’s five cinemas. Soak in some history at the Pioneer Village or Fort Kearny. Head to the Rowe Sanctuary to watch half a million sandhill cranes gather by the Platte River. Try some hunting, fishing, golfing or ice hockey. Spend an evening at a concert, followed by ethnic cuisine at one of Kearney’s great restaurants. Oh, and don’t forget, Kearney also boasts both a United States Hockey League franchise and a United States Basketball League franchise.

Interested in local internships or employment opportunities? Connect with the many UNK graduates who occupy key administrative and leadership positions within the community. As an economic and cultural hub in the region, Kearney offers a wide range of businesses and organizations to work with.

Quotation dots
Left quoteI remember interviewing friendly city officials for my internship with a community organization. I remember fun spring picnics at Cottonmill Park and Sunday nights with friends at the Spaghetti Shop or the local pizza place. Kearney was the perfect-sized city for me—large enough to have enough entertainment and resources but small enough to feel safe to walk and drive around town.Right quote
