Become certified to lead at all levels

Meet the requirements for Administrative and Supervisory Certification to serve as a superintendent in Nebraska schools. This advanced education specialist online degree builds on the skills you’ve gained from your administrative endorsement to prepare you for the challenges of school leadership at the superintendent level. Expert faculty, and experienced school administrators who serve as mentors for your field study and internship courses, will prepare you to advance in your career.

Prerequisites: Master’s degree in a related education field and an administrative certificate. UNK also offers online educational administration programs that can serve as prerequisites for the school superintendent program.

Students pursuing certification in states other than Nebraska must check with their state’s Department of Education for certification requirements.

The total range of credit hour requirements for the program (33-69 credit hours) depends on your completion of prior degrees and coursework.

Career Opportunities

  • Supervisor of Special Education

"I was able to finish my specialist degree in a year and a half and there's no way possible that you could have done that in a face-to-face situation. My biggest takeaways from the program were the caring nature of our professors, the recommendations that they would send to future school and future prospective jobs. It's an excellent program, and I would encourage as many people as I could to look into a specialist degree at UNK."
