Become certified to lead at all levels

Meet the requirements for Administrative and Supervisory Certification to serve as a superintendent in Nebraska schools. This advanced education specialist online degree builds on the skills you’ve gained from your administrative endorsement to prepare you for the challenges of school leadership at the superintendent level. Expert faculty, and experienced school administrators who serve as mentors for your field study and internship courses, will prepare you to advance in your career.

Prerequisites: Master’s degree in a related education field and an administrative certificate. UNK also offers online educational administration programs that can serve as prerequisites for the school superintendent program.

Students pursuing certification in states other than Nebraska must check with their state’s Department of Education for certification requirements.

The total range of credit hour requirements for the program (33-69 credit hours) depends on your completion of prior degrees and coursework.

Career Opportunities with a School Superintendent Degree

  • Superintendent
  • Supervisor of Special Education

"I was a superintendent before I had these classes and I was not prepared. I didn't even know what I didn't know. Going through the classes, working with the professors at UNK that were practicing administrators or who had practiced, they knew exactly what administrators, what superintendents needed to know. I enjoyed the classes because they were so practical and I could use the information daily."
