Music Education PK-12

The Music Education PK-12 degree at the University of Nebraska at Kearney prepares students to serve as a classroom teacher in a PK-12 setting, in both instrumental and choral music. Coursework in the Music Education program provides ample opportunities for students to gain valuable field experience in the music classroom beginning their freshman year, alongside classes in music theory, aural skills, history, elementary and secondary teaching techniques, conducting, applied lessons and performance ensembles. Following the culminating student teaching experience, Music Education graduates would be certified to teach in any public or private school setting in the state of Nebraska, with opportunities to also explore teaching positions in other states.
