DTEP (Driver Training and Evaluation Program)

Driver Training and Evaluation Program (DTEP) is a driving improvement program tailored for those who have failed the DMV Test 3 Times, have not held an operator’s license within the past five (5) years, need specific driving improvement, or a general refresher of driving skills.

Our classes are small, consisting of attending a S.T.O.P course close to home, then mostly one-on-one time with our Instructors here in Kearney. The course fee is $600. The curriculum consists of 6 hours of classroom study and an equivalency of 6 hours of behind-the-wheel Instruction, which includes both On-Street and Range lessons. Drive times are scheduled with the Instructor at mutually convenient times.

This course conforms to the rules and regulations of the DMV as defined by Title 247 NAC, Chapter 2, Rules and Regulations for Driver Training Schools and Instructors. Passing the course results in a Certificate of Completion for the Participant and a Letter of Completion issued to the DMV, if applicable. However, after completing this course, the Participant MUST still take the written and drive tests at a DMV office.

If a Participant requires accommodations relating to the classroom and/or driving, please contact the Nebraska Safety Center prior to the beginning of the course. Special arrangements can be made to accommodate those needs.

Payment in full is required before issuance of the Certificate of Completion and Letter of Notification.
