Drawing on our expertise and research, we serve the diverse needs of the community. Our faculty is dedicated to enabling students to use scientific approaches to discovery and understanding.
It defines the successes of students in UNK’s College of Fine Arts and Humanities, whether in the humanities, the liberal arts, or fine arts.
Curriculum in the College of Education is designed to be student-centered and intellectually challenging, while preparing students through field and internship experiences.
We provide value to Nebraska by preparing students to compete in dynamic professional environments and by promoting academic, social, technological and economic development.
Each year the UNK Undergraduate Research Council publishes selected examples of student scholarly writing in the Undergraduate Research Journal. Any paper written by a UNK undergraduate student is eligible for consideration.
Full, printed copies of past issues of this journal are available in the Calvin T. Ryan Library. Past years’ tables of contents are available below.
Submissions will be requested through the faculty in late November. Students should submit their papers to the chair of the appropriate department by February 5, 2021. Each department -- using a process they determine -- can select up to four papers for submission to the Undergraduate Research Council. Selected papers can be sent in hard copy tot he Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity, Warner Hall Room 2246, or sent via email to Lynette Brown at brownla2@unk.edu February 12, 2021. Then the Undergraduate Research Council will identify 12-15 papers for publication.
Submissions should be 8-15 pages in length, double spaced. Keep in mind the selection is based on quality; not quantity. Longer papers are not disqualified.
Any good scholarly writing, past or present, is eligible for submission as long as the student wrote it while an undergraduate student at UNK (e.g. a current UNK graduate student may submit work done as a UNK undergraduate).
Submissions are requested from all disciplines and may be written in a format appropriate for that discipline.
Initial submissions must be made in hard copy only. Electronic format will be requested from those selected for publication.
Please include student name, phone number, e-mail and sponsoring faculty name on the title page only. Refrain from including identifying information in the body of the paper.
