On Campus Online

The Department of History at the University of Nebraska at Kearney gives students a working knowledge of past events, people, ideas and values in the United States and in other parts of the world. Students at UNK will gain an understanding of contemporary society from a historical perspective that includes multi-cultural and global contexts.

The history department’s courses prepare students for a variety of careers from graduate and law schools, to public history and secondary teaching posts to business and industry. Each member of our faculty teaches courses at all levels from freshman surveys through graduate seminars. Jacob McGinley

"After a tour of UNK’s campus I knew that I wanted to be a Loper. The professors in the department are extremely helpful in supporting students to excel and grasp concepts in history. They helped prepare me for the transition from undergraduate to graduate level education."
