How to Apply
A transfer applicant is a student who has attempted college credit after graduating from an accredited high school and/or completing the GED. Students who complete college credit while in high school are not considered a transfer. Follow these steps to apply to UNK as a transfer student.
Step 1 – Apply to UNK
- Apply to UNK as an undergraduate degree-seeking student.
- Select your start term – Fall (August) – Spring (January) – Summer (May). See academic calendar.
- Pay the $45 application fee.

Step 2 - Have Transcripts Sent to UNK
- After applying, request official transcripts from all prior institutions (including high school or GED), be sent directly to UNK. They cannot come from the student.
- Transferring from another University of Nebraska institution (UNL, UNO, UNMC, NCTA)? Submit the Change of Campus Form so your current school can send all transcripts (including high school/GED) to UNK.
- You can’t be admitted or enrolled until all transcripts are received. If you’re currently taking classes elsewhere, request “in-progress” transcripts be sent now, and near the end of your final semester, request “official final” transcripts be sent to UNK so transfer credits you have earned can be awarded.

Step 3 - Meet Admission Requirements
- Once your transcripts are received, UNK will review them to determine admission eligibility.
