Congratulations on your admission to the University of Nebraska at Kearney. If you are from the U.S. and are one of the following student types, use the checklist below: transfer, returning transfer, readmitted student, adult freshman, seeking post-bachelors, or are non-degree seeking. Our Loper Toolkit provides additional assistance, and you can also download a PDF.
Set Up MyBLUE
Your MyBLUE account is the most important tool you will have as a UNK student and is available immediately following your application for admission.
Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities you have attended since graduating from high school are required.
If you earned any college credits while in high school, your institutions must send us official college transcripts.
If you were admitted based on “in-progress” transcripts, send us your “final official transcripts” so that your coursework may be evaluated and credit is applied to your student record.
Official transcripts must be sent to UNK before you can enroll in classes.
General Health Information
UNK requires all incoming students to upload immunization records that show two MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations after their first birthday. This information must be submitted to UNK before a student can register for classes. Students who are taking online only classes are not required to submit immunization records.
Once completed, records are reviewed and the hold on class registration is removed. UNK is committed to a safe and healthy campus. We highly encourage that all students receive the Meningitis Vaccinations prior to start of classes.
To obtain immunization records, most states have an immunization database. For Nebraska, visit NESIIS.
Login to MyBLUE with your NUID# and password. Go to Profile, then Immunization.
Click Upload/View Health Records tab (pop-up blocker off).
On the next screen, enter your MMR dates. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Save button. Next click on Add/View Attachment.
Click Choose File to find your saved immunization records. This can be a scan or photo of your immunization records (send .jpg, .pdf, or Word file). Click Upload.
Once uploaded, click Save and Submit to the University.
General Financial Aid Information
Students should pursue as many types of funding as possible to help offset the cost of college. More than 80.7% of full-time UNK undergraduate students received scholarships and/or grants, and the average need-based award was $10,113 in 2022-23. Financial Aid offers will be sent beginning in March. Contact the Financial Aid Office with questions.
Why FAFSA is Important
Submit the FAFSA to be eligible for grants, loans, or work study. You will need to create a FSA ID to sign the FAFSA. UNK’s school code is 002551.
Need-based funds are limited and students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. Note: The 2025-26 FAFSA will be available to submit in December 2024.
Nebraska resident students may receive full-tuition coverage at UNK through the Nebraska Promise. See eligibility requirements and full details. You must complete the FAFSA by June 1. No other application is needed.
Scholarships
Some scholarships are based on your admissions application, while others require a separate application. Some scholarships require test scores (ACT/SAT) for eligibility. Deadlines, award amounts, and how to apply are listed with each scholarship.
Admitted students should complete the UNK Transfer Incoming Scholarship Application in MyBLUE. The application is open August 1 and closes on March 31, 11:59 Central Time.
Paying Your Bill
You will receive an email in your LoperMail account when your bill is available in MyBLUE. Bills are not mailed and parents are not notified. Missing the payment deadline will result in late charges.
See student accounts for due dates, payment options, and other details.
Apply for Housing
Living on campus is optional to transfer students or any students who are 19 or older on the first day of classes unless they are exempt. Transfer housing is available for students.
Students starting in the spring 2025 semester can apply for housing September 15. Students starting in the fall 2025 semester can apply when the housing contract opens on January 7. You will receive an email announcing when the Housing Application opens and how to apply.
Complete your contract as soon as possible to have a better chance to receive your first-choice housing pick. Contact the Office of Residence Life if you have questions.
Consider a Living Learning Community
A communityallows you to live with those who share your major, interests, or academic achievements. The environment contributes greatly to your success.
Some communities are tied to scholarship deadlines, so plan ahead and apply.
Choose a Meal Plan
Students who live in residence halls during the academic year (fall and spring semesters) are required to have a meal plan.
Choose from three meal plansthat include dining dollars to use across campus at different retail operations.
Watch for Housing News
Leading up to the move-in date, be watching for emails from the Office of Residence Life with information to help your move go smoothly.
The password is the same password you use to log into MyBLUE. Check your UNK email account frequently throughout your entire time at UNK.
Get Your Student ID Card
Your UNK ID is your key to campus and access to services, buildings, athletics, events, library card and more. You can also purchase items using Loper Dollars.
A student ID card will be issued when you arrive on campus. You must appear in person to obtain your ID at the Nebraskan Student Union, suite 142G. To assist the process, submit your photo online.
Complete Confirmation & Register for Classes
Students starting the spring semester will receive an email in the fall to complete a Confirmation Form in their MyBLUE. Email notifications continue through January as students are admitted. Students starting the fall semester will receive this email beginning in March. Email notifications continue through the summer as students are admitted.
After you submit the Confirmation Form, you will be connected to an academic advisor to make an appointment via zoom, email, phone or in-person.
Your academic advisor will assist you in reviewing your transfer credits, your degree program, and the available classes that you need. Class registration will be completed through your MyBLUE portal with the advisor’s assistance.
