About the Music Theatre Degree Program

On Campus Icon On Campus

The Bachelor of Music in Musical theatre trains the singer/actor/dancer as a “triple threat” in performance skills. At the center of this curriculum is a core of music classes, supported by strong secondary areas in theatre and dance. Students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney have opportunities to participate in performances every semester of enrollment, including musicals, main stage theatre productions, student or faculty choreographed dance concerts, choir and other ensembles.

Students who pursue this degree should prepare themselves for collegiate study through pre-college music studies that build basic musicianship (voice and piano), participate in plays and musicals at their school or community theatre, and should pursue dance study.

“I decided to major in Music Theatre because singing, dancing and acting were all areas in which I excelled, and about which I felt passionate. The small class environment and supportive faculty and staff were exactly what I needed to be successful”
