For Students

The UNK General Education (GE) program helps students acquire knowledge and abilities to: understand the world, make connections across disciplines, and contribute to the solution of contemporary problems.  For information on GE credit-hours required, exceptions, and GE course category (LOPER) learning objectives, go here:

UNK's General Education program consists of a diverse set of courses that provides the foundational knowledge that society expects an educated citizen to have. Students should be aware that the list of General Education-approved courses can change slightly from year to year.  Be sure to refer to the academic catalog under which you matriculated (began studies at UNK).

Do you have questions about transfer courses or other issues about fulfilling General Education requirements?

For a comprehensive list of courses that transfer in as equivalents to UNK courses in the General Education program, find your transfer institution below.

For all Guided Pathways, for both General Education as well as full degree programs at UNK, visit this link.

Please note that students cannot receive General Education credit for a course that transfers in as an equivalent to a UNK course that is not in the General Education program. If you have questions about a course that transfers in as a general elective, you may contact the Director of General Education (general.education@unk.edu).
