National Survey of Student Engagement

Since 2000, the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) has been collecting data from first-year and graduating students at four-year colleges /universities around the country.  The survey is intended to assess the extent to which students engage in a variety of educationally effective activities. The university uses the survey to acquire information about students on a number of topics, including academic rigor, time devoted to course requirements, and what sorts of activities students engage in.  The survey also helps provide information about student involvement in research, learning communities, and other experiential learning activities.  The University of Nebraska at Kearney has participated in the survey in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025.
