Reporting Emergencies/Crimes

All emergencies and ongoing crimes should be reported directly to 911. “Emergency” phones are located throughout campus and dial directly to 911. Delayed reports of crime or suspicious activity should be reported to UNK Police at 308-865-8911 or City of Kearney Police at 308-237-2104. Provide the following information:

• Your name
• Your location (building, room number, etc.)
• Nature of the emergency (fire, medical, chemical spill, etc.). A thorough description of the incident will ensure the proper resources are dispatched.
• Any other information requested.
• Do not hang up until the dispatcher tells you to do so.
• If you feel you are in immediate danger, leave the area at once notifying people as you leave.

During an Emergency

• Remain as calm as possible.
• Assess the situation. Is the scene safe?
• If so, Assist up to your trained ability.
