The Nu Upsilon cast of the national theatre honorary, Alpha Psi Omega, exists to stimulate interest in dramatic activities at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, to secure for the university all advantages and mutual helpfulness provided by a large national honorary society, and to participate in the plays staged by the university.
Membership in the Nu Upsilon cast of Alpha Psi Omega is open to all students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney who have an interest in theatre - not just Theatre majors and minors. Through participation in any facet of UNK Theatre productions - auditioning, performing, crewing, designing, constructing, striking, etc. - students accumulate points according to a scale established in the Alpha Psi Omega/Nu Upsilon constitution. UNK students who have acquired a minimum of 100 points and possess a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, are invited to become members of the Nu Upsilon cast of Alpha Psi Omega. Prospective members then partake in a pledging ceremony, pledge week, and induction ceremony before they are officially welcomed into the cast.
To maintain membership in good standing, students must continue active participation in UNK Theatre productions, earning a minimum of 30 points each year. Members must also attend weekly cast meetings, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
