Purpose: The purpose of this, the Nu Upsilon cast of Alpha Psi Omega, is to stimulate interest in dramatic activities at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, to secure for the university all advantages and mutual helpfulness provided by a large national honorary society, and to participate in the plays staged by the university.Section 1. The name of this honorary dramatic society shall be the Nu Upsilon Cast of Alpha Psi Omega.
Section 1. To become a member, one must obtain 100 points. At least 25 of those points must be earned in the areas of Production Staff or Running Crew. One point will be awarded toward acting points for every audition attended by a nonmember.

Section 2. Categories will be determined by individual play directors and technical directors of each specific production.
Section 3. When the cast deems it appropriate, honorary and faculty memberships may be conferred upon persons vitally interested in dramatics.
Section 4. Historian will record points earned by members and nonmembers for each production.
Section 1. Candidates shall be elected to membership in accordance with the above specifications by the members of Alpha Psi Omega, and the Faculty Director as sponsor.
Section 2. The Nu Upsilon cast of Alpha Psi Omega will not discriminate against any potential member in accordance with the University’s anti-discrimination policy.
Section 1. The officers of this cast shall be the cast President, Vice-President, Secretary, Publicity, and Historian.
Section 2. The president shall preside at all meetings, call meetings, appoint committees, and have general supervision of the affairs of the cast.
Section 3. The Vice-President shall assume the responsibilities of the President in case of his absence and organize the annual awards banquet.
Section 4. It shall be the duty of the Secretary to keep an accurate record of the proceedings of meetings, and to read a report of the minutes at each regular meeting.
Section 5. The duties of Publicity Manager shall be to supervise press releases, advertising, and public relations toward any activities of Alpha Psi Omega.
Section 6. The duties of Historian shall be caretaker of the scrapbook, and the collection of the points (in conjunction with the President) of active and potential members.
Section 7. The Faculty Advisor of Alpha Psi Omega may serve as the treasurer.
Section 1. Officers from the following year shall be elected at the last business meeting and formally installed by the incumbent officers.
Section 2. Officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the cast. The president shall vote in case of a tie.
Section 3. In case officers fail to return to school, new officers shall be elected to fill the vacancies at the first meeting of the year.
Section 4. Each officer shall take an oath pledging him to carry out the duties of the office conferred upon them to the best of their ability, and always with the decorum and dignity worthy of the cast.
Section 1. There shall be at least one regular meeting of the cast each month.
Section 2. Special meetings may be called at anytime by the President, or at the request of the faculty advisor. Preferably, there will be a week’s notice given, and no less than two days notice.
Section 3. At least one social function shall be held each year by the cast.
Section 4. A quorum shall consist of two-thirds of the cast membership, when needed to vote.
Section 5. Meetings shall be conducted under Robert’s Rules of Order.
Section 1. There shall be an initiation fee that is established by the national cast and is subject to change. This fee must be paid before any understudy can be initiated.
Section 2. Each understudy may purchase a cast pin or key.
Section 3. Special assessments may be levied upon members only by a two-thirds vote of the members present in school.
Section 1. The standing committees of the cast shall be:
A. Executive Committee. This committee shall consist of five officers and shall handle all minor business arising between meetings.
B. Initiation Committee. The cast initiation team for conducting the initiation ceremony shall consist of the Alpha Psi Omega Executive Committee.
C. Membership Committee. Defined under Article III.
Section 1. All Alpha Psi Members or any students at UNK interested in any aspect of the theatre arts shall be encouraged to participant in the annual Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) for their educational development and the furthering of their professional experiences.
Section 1. The articles of this constitution may be revised, amended, or altered in whole or in part at any regular meeting by a two-thirds vote to the cast, provided such amendment and the justice of the proposed vote was given to each member in writing at least one week prior to such vote.
Section 2. These amendments will be sent to the Student Senate for approval.
This constitution will be deemed ratified by a two-thirds vote of the cast and upon approval of the UNK Student Senate.
1. The present 100 point system for membership shall be maintained by the President.
2. All candidates for membership should have a 2.5 semester GPA.
3. Members of the Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Honorary must maintain the standards of the society by:
a. Earning 30 points a year using the present point system.
b. Maintaining a 2. 5 semester GPA
Any members of the society who fail to meet the obligation set forth may lose his or her good standing and be placed on probation for one semester. Probation shall consist of lose of voting rights and ability to hold an office at any level of the society. After the probation period, if the standards of the society have not been met, the members in good standing may be by a majority vote of a quorum, revoke or continue probation.
4. Scholarships shall be awarded by the faculty sponsors, at their discretion. The scholarships shall be awarded 50% each semester, directly to payment of fees.
5. Annual awards will be presented as follows:

6. Alpha Psi Omega will annually award the “Outstanding Newcomer Award.” The newcomer shall be defined as a first time participant in the UNK Theatre. This award will be voted on by Alpha Psi Omega members only.
7. Alpha Psi Omega shall sponsor and annually award the “Players Player Award”. Players Player shall be defined as the individual who has shown dedication, interest, was easy to work with, and who added to the success of any production. This award will be voted on by participants in all UNK productions.
8. The constitution of Alpha Psi Omega should be presented to the organization at the 1st meeting after initiation.
