Auditions for the Spring 2024 Musical are open to all current UNK students.
To audition:
- Check the Theatre Callboard (outside FAB 212) for any additional information the director may post.
- DOWNLOAD, complete, and return an audition form via email to unktheatre@unk.edu no later than 1 hour prior to the audition session of your choice. OR bring a completed/printed form with you to the audition. If you are unable to complete a form in advance, there will be a limited supply of forms available at the auditions. On your audition form, be sure to note any and all conflicts (work, classes, recitals, concerts, personal events, etc.) that fall during the rehearsal period and/or run of this production (January 22-March 3, 2024). *NOTE: To submit your form, you will need to download/save the completed audition form to your computer and email it as a pdf attachment to unktheatre@unk.edu. If you have any trouble submitting your form electronically, please reach out to the same email address.
- Sign-up for a 5-minute Vocal Audition slot on the Theatre Callboard (outside FAB 213).
- Prepare 1-minute of a Musical Theatre song, preferably from a mid-century work - standard melodic straightforward singing (ex. Rodgers & Hammerstein). This is not a contemporary show with belt, although mixed voice is appropriate for some characters.
- BRING YOUR SHEET MUSIC to the audition. An accompanist will be provided for you.
- Arrive in the “lobby” outside the Miriam Drake Theatre at least 15 minutes prior to your vocal audition slot.
- Be prepared to participate in the group Cold-Reading and Dance/Movement audition on the same day as your vocal audition. All singers will be required to move. Those with a background in dance or gymnastics may be asked to do more. We are looking for actors with "special skills" such as juggling and gymnastics.
- Know that whil you only need to attend one audition session in order to be considered for a role, the director may ask you to return for a callback at 5:15pm on December 8.
- Relax, breathe, and enjoy this opportunity to WOW the director!
