English majors study and examine the deepest roots of language and note its features, characteristics, and changes throughout time. Students study the context and content of written and oral works such as pieces of prose and poetry, commentaries and speeches, and plays and films, and are able to discover truths and commonalities within those time eras. They are able to organize thoughts and ideas and present them in a clear and effective way. Students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney are also able to learn under award-winning faculty members who mentor, offer insight, and encourage scholarship and creativity. An English major is for those who enjoy literature, writing, and learning under professionals every day.
