About the Chemical Engineering 3 + 1 Program

On Campus

The Chemical Engineering program is ideal for students considering careers as a Chemical Process Engineer or an Environmental Engineer, or continuing on to advanced degrees (M.S., Ph.D.) for academic careers.

UNK Chemistry faculty believe in a hands-on science experience from the very beginning. In the program, students are provided with the best laboratory experience possible through access to state-of-the-art equipment and participation in active undergraduate research programs.

In this program, students will spend 3 years at UNK and 1 year at UNL, earning a Chemistry Comprehensive - Chemical Engineering Emphasis B.S. from UNK. With an additional year at UNL, students can receive a second bachelor’s degree from UNL. Also offered is a 2+2 program that results in one bachelor's degree from UNL.

I chose UNK because I really liked the campus and the size of the school. It was large enough to have a ton of options for classes and activities, but small enough to get to know your professors and feel like they wanted to help you succeed.

I felt like I was able to get so much experience during my undergraduate career that helped me decide my next step was graduate school. I was able to do a lot of undergraduate research, tutor, and even teach a lab, all of which has really helped during graduate school.
