Focus 2 is an interactive, self-guided career and education planning system. Complete four career assessments to learn majors and careers that best align with your interests, personality, values, and skills. Focus 2 provides reliable information to help you explore occupations, choose a major offered at UNK, make informed decisions for your future.

New Users

Visit Focus 2 and create a new account using the access code lopers. You will need to create a username and password.

Returning Users

Visit Focus 2. Login using your original username and password.

Explore UNK Majors

View this list of majors and minors to explore all the programs offered at UNK. If this feels overwhelming, one strategy is to print the document and cross out any major that does not interest you. Then, review the remaining options.


Review the Course Catalog

Review the Undergraduate Course Catalog for a list of all undergraduate majors, minors, and certificates. Each major will show a list of required courses and a four-year plan to complete the major.

Search for additional program details by visiting the department webpage. View a listing of all academic departments or the full list of majors and review the information provided.

Learn Through Conversations and Experiences

Faculty Interview

Meet with a faculty member in your major of interest. Email careerserv@unk.edu for faculty contact information. Review the “Faculty Interview” document for sample questions.


Conduct an Informational Interview

Learn more about a particular career by meeting with someone in a career field of your interest. Review the “Informational Interview” document for sample questions.


Arrange a Job Shadow

Learn more about a specific job my observing someone in your career of interest. Review the “How to Arrange a Job Shadow” document for step-by-step instructions.


Attend a UNK Club Meeting

UNK has over 150 clubs and organizations, many of which are associated with certain majors or departments. View a full list of organizations on LoperLinks and attend a club meeting. Talk with other students to learn more about the major.


Attend a Career Fair

 Career fairs are a great way to meet representatives from different types of employers, learn about internships and full-time positions, and discover exciting opportunities within a career field. Each semester, Academic Advising and Career Development hosts two fairs: the Education Opportunities Fair and the Career & Internship Fair.
