The Office of Graduate Studies and Academic Innovation at the University of Nebraska at Kearney has awarded seven $2,000 Carpenter Fellowship Scholarships to graduate students for the 2025 - 2026 academic year.
“First and foremost, I must extend a heartfelt thank you to the donors,” said Taylor Lothrop, a recipient and student in UNK’s online Reading PK-12 Master of Arts in Education program.
These awards are funded through generous donations to the UNK Carpenter Fellowship Fund of the University of Nebraska Foundation.
The Carpenter Fellowship is awarded annually to meritable graduate students who demonstrate strong academic potential. Scholarships are given for one academic year, though recipients may be nominated for a second award.
“I am incredibly humbled and grateful to be nominated by my supportive professors,” Lothrop said. “This scholarship will afford me an opportunity to complete my degree more quickly so that I can better serve the Sunrise Middle School community in my role as the librarian.”
This year’s recipients represent five UNK graduate programs:
Jamie Flores Ticas – Speech-Language Pathology M.S.Ed.
Tabitha Eastgate – English M.A.
Hayli Todd – English M.A.
Taylor Lothrop – Reading PK – 12 M.A.Ed.
Connor Gutz – Master of Athletic Training
Delaney Tracy – History M.A.
Nick Kozisek – History M.A.
