Biography

Alice Cahill, Associate Professor of Special Education, joined the faculty in 2017. She teaches graduate and undergraduate students in both online and face-to-face courses in the Department of Teacher Education. Dr. Cahill has designed 19 courses within the special education program and earned her doctorate from Illinois State University, in 2016. She currently serves as one of the Assistant Department Chairs in Teacher Education and as the Graduate Program Advisor for Special Education.

Dr. Cahill is the 2024 recipient of the UNK Academy for Teacher Education Excellence Award in the College of Education. Her service includes serving on the Faculty Senate, acting as an Undergraduate and Graduate Research Advisor, and contributing to the COE Guidelines Review Committee for Tenure and Promotion within the College of Education.  Dr. Cahill also serves her department in many different capacities.

Her research agenda focuses on emotional and behavioral health and academic interventions, with particular emphasis on self-regulation, the use of assistive technology for antecedent interventions, and Universal Design for Learning.
