If you are renewing a teaching certificate that had been expired for over 5 years, you will need to take a 3 credit hour practicum as part of the 15 required credit hours of course work. The practicum requires three weeks of teaching in a classroom at the appropriate grade level and in the subject area of the original certificate (where applicable). If you have a teaching job that fits the criteria, the practicum may be conducted in your own classroom. Requirements include an observation while teaching and written reflections on the experience. The practicum requires 7 weeks of teaching in a classroom at the appropriate grade level and in the subject area of the additional endorsement (where applicable).
