A message from Dr. Tim Jares, Dean of the College of Business and Technology
As we look to the future, the 2021-2022 academic year sits on our horizon wrought with hope. I remain very optimistic thanks to the hard work of the students, faculty, and staff, but also due to the generosity and vision of our donors. Our students, particularly those that have earned CBT scholarships, are driven and have worked tirelessly amid chaotic and unprecedented challenges. I commend them for the fastidious care they have shown in pursuit of their degrees and the impactful careers that surely will follow. It is an investment in this future that has fueled our supporters to provide these generous scholarships. I could not be more proud to represent UNK’s College of Business and Technology.
For the 2021-2022 academic year, the College of Business and Technology is proud to report that we have awarded more than 300 scholarships to over 200 students, totaling just over $426,000 to well-deserving students. Perhaps, now more than ever, these scholarships will have a huge impact on the lives of these students. We could not be more thankful to our donors; their passion is what makes this all possible.
Please join me in congratulating our students in these achievements and thanking our donors for continuing to support our College as we build the leaders of tomorrow.

JoAnn Rademacher graduated with a BA in Education from UNK. I later earned my master's degree while teaching and caring for our four children. I spent many years in the classroom, and I loved my work. I am now retired but continue to go to two elementary schools (1) reading program at Bryant, (2) dental program at Emerson. Earl Rademacher received his BA from UNK and his MA from the University of Northern Colorado. After graduation, he served two years in the US Army. He taught 4 years in Nebraska high schools..He returned to Kearney to work in various administrative jobs at UNK. He served as Acting President at UNK for 6 months and retired after 37 years as Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance. UNK is very special to both of us. We still enjoy going to all the activities on campus.

Bill and Julie, grew up in small-town Nebraska (Guide Rock and Pierce) and met at what was then Kearney State College. They credit UNK for preparing them for careers in organizations where they have worked side-by-side with graduates from colleges and universities throughout the country. The scholarships they sponsor are meant to provide students in Nebraska the opportunity to pursue degrees in the areas where Bill and Julie have seen such value in a UNK degree. They currently live in the Chicago area and have two daughters, Katie and Hollie.

The Arlen A. Olson Memorial Scholarship is given in memory of Arlen A. Olson who was dedicated to aviation since he began flying in 1970.
"Dad was an amazing pilot with such a passion for aviation. He was involved with the industry in so many ways including a career as an ag pilot, corporate pilot and aerial firefighting; philanthropic -flying medical and mission trips all over the world; recreational -- he truly loved a flight on a beautiful day just for fun, in both land and sea planes. During all of this he still made time for sharing his passion for aviation with others and passing on his skills as a flight instructor. In his memory we want to continue helping others pursue their dreams of an aviation career.

Phil and Jane Jossi opened Kearney Aviation Center (KAC) June 2011 with a primary mission of serving the UNK Aviation Systems Management Program flight operations area of emphasis. The relationship grew to 6 airplanes, employing many students as line personnel and flight instructors. This scholarship was created in appreciation of the close and mutually beneficial relationship that was enjoyed until retirement when the business was sold in 2016.
The scholarship is awarded to students in the Aviation Systems Management Program.

The Paul W. Priebe Scholarship Fund is given in memory of Paul W Priebe who graduated from Nebraska State Teachers College (Kearney) in 1939.
"My father was a proud graduate of the UNK predecessor who served in World War II and spent many years as the Personnel Director for two VA Hospitals" said his son, Dennis Priebe. "He was also a proud Cornhusker who established the Scholarship to help future UNK students achieve their goals."
