Yes, the FAFSA must be completed each year you attend college to receive financial aid. The FAFSA application opens every year on October 1st.
If you believe you have special circumstances that warrant a review by a UNK Financial Aid Counselor, please complete the Special Circumstances Form or schedule a meeting with your financial aid counselor. The financial aid counselor may be able to account for changes in circumstances and adjust the data on the FAFSA.
As a graduate student you may be eligible for Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans, Continuing Student Scholarships, Outside Scholarships, Graduate Assistantship, and Federal TEACH Grant (Eligibility for TEACH grant is limited to specific Education degrees).
It will take 3-5 business days for UNK to receive your FAFSA. We load 2022-2023 FAFSAs on Wednesdays, and 2023-2024 FAFSAs on Mondays.
Financial aid may begin to disburse to your UNK account up to ten days prior to the start of the semester and will continue to disburse daily throughout the semester as financial aid is processed and/or accepted.
Note: Financial aid will not credit if all eligibility requirements and/or documentation requirements are not met for the various types of financial aid offered to you.
