Torsten Homberger is a native former East German who earned his PhD in Modern European History from Washington State University. He currently works at UNK’s Department of History as an Assistant Professor teaching a variety of courses on modern Europe. His dissertation, entitled “Fashioning German Fascism: Constructing the Image of Hitler’s Storm Troopers, 1924 – 1933” focused on the intersection of fascist politics and popular culture. Torsten Homberger’s current research interests include political uses of culture in authoritarian states, such as the Nazi regime and East Germany.
