Why do you teach/research Communication?

No matter what career path students take, having skills to communicate effectively will serve them throughout their lives. As a scientist, I understand the value of translating research into terms that a wide-range of audiences can access, and I seek to help students gain skills in scientific and other forms of communication that they may use well beyond their time at UNK.

What is your favorite thing about UNK?

UNK and the University of Nebraska system as a whole support collaborative research, and there are a number of opportunities here for research that crosses disciplinary boundaries. I like helping students gain experiences in their areas of interest by connecting them with different people and resources, while at the same time continuously learning from students and colleagues.
