Brenda Jochum has impacted innumerable students during her 3 decades at UNK. She is responsible for launching and working with the Living Learning Community that connects students with similar interests and majors to live, study, and socialize with each other. To facilitate this, she developed programming so students can network with each other and the College of Business and Technology (CBT) faculty and staff. In addition to teaching a LOPR course on soft skills and playing a key role in working with and creating internship programs for sixteen majors, she gives course presentations and provides individual student appointments on resumes and career development. Being a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach has provided new opportunities to connect with others and bring the joy of living strengths to others each day. She helps students, campus offices, and faculty identify their CliftonStrengths and works with faculty to incorporate them into their courses. Her Top 5 are Connectedness, Responsibility, Ideation, Belief, and Learner.

I have worked with 1630 UNK interns. Nearly all CBT freshmen will see me in one of their classes as a guest presenter on CliftonStrengths.
CliftonStrengths is a development tool where students learn about what brings them enjoyment, energy, and excellence. Tapping into natural talents leads to increased engagement and greater life satisfaction. When students are empowered to do what they do best, they discover, develop, and apply their strengths so they can connect to their natural talents and develop action steps to accelerate their potential. Additionally, by learning about CliftonStrengths we gain an appreciation for others and their unique contributions.
