Processes for creating, modifying, and deleting academic programs are designed to ensure that programs are aligned with university strategic priorities, support the originating academic unit’s mission, comply with university policy and operations, and are sustainable with resources.
After department, college-level, and academic affairs approvals, proposals for new academic programs go through extensive internal and external review procedures managed by the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Modifications to undergraduate academic programs such as name change, department merger, or course changes exceeding 25% (30 credits of a 120-hour program) must be approved by the Board of Regents (BOR) and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
