Reverse Transfer

Reverse Transfer is the process through which a Nebraska community or tribal college reviews academic credits earned by a student at another institution (such as any University of Nebraska campus) to determine if the student has earned enough credits to receive an associate's degree. 

Nebraska community and tribal colleges grant an associate's degree after the completion of 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits and may require the completion of specific courses. Any student who has transferred to the University of Nebraska without finishing an associate's degree may still earn that degree by sending an official transcript to the community or tribal college(s) where they previously earned 15 or more semester credits or 22.5 or more quarter credits. The community or tribal college(s) then considers applying those credits to retroactively fulfill requirements for the associate's degree.

Steps:

1. Students who have transferred at least 15 credits from a Nebraska community or tribal college and have earned at least 65 total cumulative credits at UNK will receive access to the reverse transfer form on the top of their MyBLUE dashboard.  Students should complete this form to indicate interest in reverse transfer.  Within the form, students may select the Nebraska community or tribal college(s) where the 15 or more semester credits or 22.5 or more quarter credits were earned.
2. Students will then need to request a transcript to be sent to the community or tribal college(s) selected.
