LOPER 101- I Am a Lifelong Learner

First-time freshmen TRIO-SSS students must take LOPER 101- I Am a Lifelong Learner (LOPR 101) General Education course during their first semester. Credits earned in this graded course will be counted as general education requirements and towards graduation.

LOPER 101- I Am A Lifelong Learner will examine how learning happens through an academic lens. Topics include growth mindset, Bloom’s Taxonomy, metacognition, motivation, and related concepts. Students in this course will equip themselves with the knowledge and skills to become successful lifelong learners by analyzing the conditions that allow lasting learning to happen, engaging in collaborative learning activities, and exploring why some strategies are more effective than others. Students will also locate and interpret scholarly sources about the learning process, integrate them into an academic paper, and present their conclusions about what it means to be a lifelong learner.
