Suicide prevention starts with connection. THRIVE is an interactive suicide prevention training that equips college students with practical skills to recognize when a peer may be struggling, start supportive conversations, respond with empathy, identify safety concerns, validate feelings, and connect others with appropriate support and resources.
Take notice — Pay attention to signs that someone might be struggling
Have the conversation — Reach out and start a meaningful conversation
Respond with care — Listen without judgment and show you care
Identify needs — Ask about their needs and what support might help
Validate — Acknowledge their feelings and let them know its okay to not be okay
Encourage support — Encourage them to connect with trusted resources and people
