Student Support Services
Student Support Services is a federally funded TRiO program, which acts as a bridge linking faculty and students. Our mission is to "increase retention and graduation rates among program participants by providing comprehensive, individualized academic support."
Students qualify for Student Support Services if they meet one or more of the eligibility requirements and have an academic need. The program is funded to serve a limited number of students. Although applications are processed immediately, students may be placed on a waiting list.
Eligibility Requirements
- First generation: Neither parent nor guardian(s) have earned a four-year college degree
- Income eligible: Student must meet federal income guidelines according to Federal TRIO Programs Current Low-Income Levels
- Students with a disability: Can document a disability that significantly interferes with academic performance
New first-time freshmen students who are accepted for services are required to meet the following conditions during their first year to be retained in the program:
- Submit a Grade Check signed by faculty each semester prior to the last day to drop a class.
- Submit an Semester Course Plan for the following semester signed by academic advisor each semester prior to posted due date to be determined by TRIO-SSS program.
- Meet with a TRIO-SSS Advisor at least once each semester for a minimum of 60 minutes.
AND successfully complete the following Fall Semester Freshman Transition requirement during the fall semester of their freshman year: University Foundations transition course which includes participation in the TRIO-SSS Mentoring Program.
Sophomore and continuing students who are accepted for services are required to meet the following conditions to be retained in the program:
- Submit an Semester Course Plan for the next semester signed by academic advisor each semester prior to posted due date to be determined by the TRIO-SSS program.
- Meet with a TRIO-SSS advisor at least once each semester for a minimum of 60 minutes.
- Upperclassmen with a GPA of 2.5 or below must submit a Grade Check

- Partnering with students, faculty, and staff
- Assisting qualified students with their transition to higher education
- Offering opportunities for academic development
- Motivating students towards graduation, productive careers, and lifelong learning
