Kyle Means

Bio

Kyle Means has been director of marketing at UNK since 2014. He uses a mix of strategic and creative thinking to share positive stories and enhance the perception of UNK. His primary responsibilities include planning and executing marketing and advertising strategies and overseeing a portion of operations that includes creative services, print production, video production and enrollment communications.

Additionally, Means is a co-chair of UNK’s First-Generation Leadership Team, teaches classes as an adjunct faculty, serves as a mentor in the Loper-2-Loper mentorship program, is a member of the commencement committee and was instrumental in creating and launching LoperVision.

Away from campus, Means builds valuable leadership experience through volunteer efforts with organizations such as the YMCA (capital campaign exec team), United Way (past campaign chair), First Lutheran Church (past council president), Kearney Soccer Club (past board member), Kearney Area Children’s Museum, Kearney Community Theatre, Kearney Chamber of Commerce and more.

A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Means graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Journalism degree in 2004. He then earned a Master of Arts in Education, specializing in sports administration, from UNK in 2011.

Before starting with UNK, Means worked primarily in sports and entertainment, including two years with the Houston Rockets NBA team, eight years with the Tri-City Storm USHL hockey team and four years with HuskerVision within the UNL Athletic Department.

He resides in Kearney with his wife, Leslie, and three children (Ella, Grace and Keithan).
