CLEP is given by appointment only. You must pay and register one week in advance before taking the CLEP test. You may register in person at the UNK Testing Site or by phone.
CLEP tests are multiple choice computer based tests. You are allowed 90 minutes to take each test. There are two types of CLEP tests – Subject and General Examinations. (See listing of UNK accepted subject exams below, however, we offer all CLEP exams.)
You must score at least 50 percent to earn college level credit at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Unofficial results are available immediately (with the exception of English Composition with Essay) and official score reports are mailed in 1 to 2 weeks. Once your score has been sent to UNK (Registrar's Office) and the percentile ranking is 50 or higher, the credit hours will be posted to your official transcript.
A CLEP subject examination may not be taken for University of Nebraska at Kearney credit if the course:
Is a prerequisite for courses already completed.
Has a lower level of required proficiency.
Involves significantly similar content to course work previously taken.
Has been successfully completed and passing grade awarded.
