Biography

Megan Adkins is Professor of Health and Physical Education, and Interim Dean of the Office of Graduate Studies and Academic Innovation.

She earned her Ph.D. in teacher education and instructional technology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln; an M.Ed. in physical education with an emphasis in special populations from the University of Nebraska at Kearney; and a B.S. in K-12 health and physical education and community health from UNL.

Before joining academia in 2008, she was a public-school teacher. In her interim role as dean, Dr. Adkins will continue overseeing academic innovation initiatives, online education and graduate studies at UNK.

Adkins brings extensive experience in graduate education, online education and leading campus-wide strategic initiatives such as artificial intelligence, micro credentialing and work conducted by the Center for Teaching and Learning (formerly Center for Teaching Excellence). 

She is involved in numerous service and scholarly based activities within her professional organizations, community and at the university level. Her research interests include pedagogy, teacher preparation, XR technology advancements, online educational practices and STEM.
