Hosted by the UNK Department of English, the 32nd Annual Student Language and Literature Conference features graduate and undergraduate student panels on literature, literary history and theory, linguistics, rhetoric and writing studies. The conference also features readings of students' creative work.
The English Department welcomes submissions of critical and creative work from undergraduate and graduate students. All students are invited to submit critical and creative writing from English and/or Modern Languages courses. Critical essays should have a reading time of no more than 15 minutes. Creative works should have a reading time of no more than 10 minutes. All submissions must be sponsored by a faculty member. Any unsponsored submissions will not be considered. There is a limit of two submissions (critical and/or creative) per student, so students are advised to select their best sponsored work.
Submissions are now closed.
An Alumni Luncheon will be held from 11am - 1:30pm on the day of the conference. All conference attendees and UNK English Department alumni are welcome to attend. For alumni wishing to attend, we ask that you register (for free!) by Friday, April 3, 2026.
The Alumni Luncheon will also include short talks by three UNK English Department alumni: Tyler Jacobs (a creative writer), Micah Carlson (a lawyer), and Selena Bloos (a teacher). The luncheon is a time for current and past students to connect and share information about the doors an English degree can open.
