The Center for Entrepreneurship & Rural Development (CERD) is thrilled to announce that the nominations for this year’s Light It Up awards are officially open. These awards celebrate the vision, innovation, and hard work of entrepreneurs who are making a difference at UNK and throughout Greater Nebraska.
Student Entrepreneur - a UNK student launching or working on the launch of a business
Emerging Entrepreneur - a startup entrepreneur in Greater Nebraska who is in the first two years of business
Excellence In Entrepreneurship - a seasoned entrepreneur who is paving the way for small business growth in Greater Nebraska and has been in business for five or more years
Entrepreneurship Advocate - a professional service, resource provider, or individual in Greater Nebraska who assists entrepreneurs
Alumni Entrepreneur - a UNK graduate who has created success in his/her field through business ownership
The deadline to submit nominations is Tuesday, March 31. To nominate, fill out the form at the link below. Individuals may nominate in more than one category. Self-nominations are acceptable.
The Light It Up Awards will be presented on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in UNK’s Discovery Hall from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. The award celebration is open to the public.
Nominees will be notified by Tuesday, April 7.

Entrepreneurship Advocate Award: Alisha Juelfs
