The Science Day activities planned are designed for high school juniors and seniors considering attending college to major in a science program. Your students will rotate through eight different disciplines of science.  These disciplines include Biology, Wildlife Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics, Engineering, Astronomy, and Health Sciences. Activities will take place in both UNK’s Bruner Hall of Science (east campus) and Discovery Hall (west campus).  We will even provide lunch!

In each science “lab” session, we will introduce your students to a different science discipline using hands-on activities as well as describe career opportunities available to them in each field. The planned activities for Science Day are (subject to change): 

  • Making Ice Cream with Chemistry
  • Physiology is Phun
  • Biodiversity Jenga
  • Engineering Design
  • Wind Turbine Design
  • Physics in ACTION!
  • Math 'Magic'
  • Careers in Healthcare
  • Planetarium Show
  • Campus Tour by UNK Admissions
  • Lunch provided by UNK College of Arts & Sciences

Check-in begins at 8:00 am at either the west entrance of Bruner Hall of Science (BHS) or the lobby of Discovery Hall (DSCH). Lab sessions will run from approximately 8:20 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., but the schedule is subject to change. Registered schools will receive an official itinerary before the event to confirm the schedule.

Departments included: Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics, Astronomy & Engineering, and Health Sciences.
