Choose from two concentration areas:
Enhancing Teaching Practice by Synergizing Art and Pedagogy
The Classroom Education Emphasis is designed for educators who are already teaching art in K-12 schools. The program will enhance your knowledge of current trends and challenges in art education—from new learning theories to student accessibility in the art classroom. Through this graduate program, you can maximize learning effectiveness for your students while advancing your career.
Connecting Curriculum and Community Through the Arts
The Museum Education Emphasis equips you to implement effective and engaging art programs, activities and exhibits in collaboration with artists, educators and communities. You will learn the best approaches for museum education through dynamic discussions; visual literacy through interpretation of culturally relevant images, museums and curricula; gallery and group activities with opportunities for studio projects; and new approaches and materials for classroom use.
Prerequisites: Bachelor’s degree in art education, visual arts (studio, graphic arts, art history, or art education), BFA, or museum studies
