This grant aims to provide the necessary resources and expertise to ensure that digital learning environments are engaging, accessible, and pedagogically sound.

The Course Innovation Grant seeks to revise an existing online course with an eye toward innovation. This grant is designed to support the development and implementation of innovative approaches to online teaching and learning, with the goal of enhancing engagement, interactivity, teaching practices, use of digital learning tools, and building course community.

Compensation: $250 in Professional Development Funds

The Outstanding Innovation in Online Teaching Award honors one faculty member a year from the University of Nebraska at Kearney who has contributed significantly to transformative teaching approaches within the online setting to increase student learning and engagement. Innovative teaching is defined broadly to allow nominees to articulate their unique innovative teaching strategies

Compensation: $1500

The fellowship brings colleagues from across campus together to address challenges and opportunities in higher education, with a specific focus on digital and online instruction.

A quality online program grant designed to help departments extend their reach to students. This grant utilizes market demand research and supports departments navigate the approval stages both internally and externally, where applicable.

Compensation: $500-1500

The UNK Open Nebraska Course Development grant seeks to make education at UNK equitable and accessible by replacing expensive textbooks with affordable content (library materials, free textbooks, online resources, etc.) and transforming the student educational experience with innovative and flexible learning opportunities.

Awards will be based on the following:

• Adopting - Replacing textbook with existing open resources in their original format. - Eligible for $500
• Adapting - Modifying existing open resources/content to fit specific course needs.  - Eligible for $750
• Authoring - Creating your own open resources, such as an eBook or packet. - Eligible for $1,500Participants will receive the funds after the course has been taught and requisite data provided to the committee.

The Office of Graduate Studies & Academic Innovation supports individual departmental recruitment efforts in addition to broader efforts to grow enrollment of students in online and graduate programs. Departments planning recruitment travel, booth exhibition, conference advertisement, or other recruiting activities may request cost-share funding once an opportunity is identified. Please complete your request at least one month prior to travel or two weeks prior to any reservation deadlines.
