Reimagining UNK's Mission, Vision and Values

A Message from Chancellor Neal Schnoor

The University of Nebraska at Kearney has long been a catalyst for educational opportunity across our state. Now is an ideal time to reimagine our mission, vision and values as the words of our system charter urge us toward an extraordinary future in transforming lives and communities.

The attached Mission, Vision and Values draft was developed to reflect who we are, what we aspire to become, how we choose to work together in service to our students, our region and state, and how we uniquely contribute to the University of Nebraska System’s “Odyssey to the Extraordinary” foundational pillars and strategic priorities.

Now, your voice is essential. I invite every member of our campus and community to engage with this draft – what resonates, needs refinement, is missing – and share your insights by Nov. 7 at chancellor@unk.edu

I am grateful to each of the members of the working group for their thoughtful contributions, to John Falconer for leading with purpose and clarity, and to Todd Gottula for his faithful scribing and wordsmithing of the brainstorming and numerous drafts.
