UNK ASSIST PROGRAM
Acclimating new Staff through Support, Involvement, Socializing and Trust

MISSION OF ASSIST PROGRAM
The UNK Staff ASSIST Program is a partnership program that consists of current staff members mentoring new staff members.  Mentors in the ASSIST Program will be comprised of graduates of the Leadership UNK Program and other UNK Staff members who represent the culture of UNK.  This program will partner individuals that have a significant campus knolegde with individuals who desire to become involved in the campus community.  Participants will have the opportunity to take part in activities and programs that help make UNK special and unique over a six month period in order to help them become more comfortable with their new work environment.

KEYS TO ASSIST

  • Support - Mentors will develop a program that allows for members to receive necessary assistance
  • Involvement - Members will participate or attend various activities special to UNK
  • Socializing - Mentors and members will learn about each other in an informal nature and other events
  • Trust - Members will be able to ask members anything and go to them for basic help


ASSIST FORMAT AND TIMELINE:

  • 2-3 Mentors will lead groups of up to 8 new staff members who apply for the program
  • New groups will form at various times during the year, sign up when you are ready
  • The program will last six months from the first meeting
  • Mentors will guide the group to one event once a month
  • Groups will have the opportunity to attend various events and learn from each other about the campus community during this time period
  • Upon completion, members will have the opportunity to evaluate their experience
