We are excited that you are interested in a career in School Counseling. The School Counseling degree program prepares dynamic, experienced teachers for careers as elementary and secondary school counselors. The UNK School Counseling program is approved by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Nebraska State Board of Education (NSBE) for endorsement at the Elementary (K-6) or Secondary (7-12) levels. Endorsement also requires a valid Nebraska teaching certificate and two years of teaching experience.
A minimum of 43 hours of graduate coursework is required, most of which can be taken in the summer.
