VISUAL COMMUNICATION AND DESIGN

About the Visual Communication and Design Degree Program

On Campus

A graphic design degree allows you to combine your artistic talent with cutting edge technology to create eye-catching designs. In the Visual Communication and Design program at UNK, students receive a well-rounded fine art studio foundation with a design emphasis that involves current practices, technology and theory of graphic design layout, typography, identity branding systems, illustration, packaging, motion graphics and web design.

Students graduate with the artistic ability, technical knowledge and communication skills to translate words, ideas and images into bold designs that connect with audiences, and to see those projects through from conception to production.

The unique intersection of visual art, marketing and communications give those with a graphic design degree a background that sets them up for success in their careers. UNK alumni have found jobs at graphic design firms, advertising agencies, web companies and more.

"The thing that I loved about UNK is that the classes are so close knitt. My classmates and I, we just fed off each other. We'd stay in the art lab for hours on end and just kinda learn from each other. That was huge, and I think a very important skill once you get out in the real world.
